About Us

Family in Hogwarts Great Hall, Warner Bros. Studio London: The Making of Harry Potter.

Welcome to Geek Family Travel! Thanks so much for visiting.

A little bit about us. We are three life-long geeks living in Central Florida who love to travel. My name is Leah and I’m the travel planner and writer of the family. My wonderful husband, henceforth to be known as Hubby, is more of an introvert than me, but he’s agreed to help me share our knowledge and love of travel on this site. He does a lot of the photography and is our technical guru. Our 8-year-old son, also known as Little Dude, is the adorable kid in our photos and our biggest inspiration to travel the world. We want to show him the beautiful planet we live on. We want him to meet new people, try new foods, see new things, and geek out with us over all the cool, weird, wild, and breathtaking things out there.

Meet Leah

I spent my childhood in the country of Panama. Not only did I get to experience many of the beautiful places the country had to offer, I was also lucky enough to travel to Costa Rica as well as across the United States and Canada. Summer after summer of traveling with my family grew my love of travel. After college, I was too broke to do much traveling, but as time went on, I started venturing out more and more. Once I met Hubby, my travel-soulmate, we made a bucket list of places to explore and we’re having a blast seeing them all!

My hobbies are reading, watching movies, doing all types of puzzles, and planning all our travel adventures. I adore Star Wars, Harry Potter, London, Spaceballs, Studio Ghibli films, train rides, Jane Austen’s books, Japan, House Hunters International, mountains, Wonder Woman, Christmas, and hugs from my guys. I dislike bad drivers, heights, cilantro, and mean people.

Meet Hubby

Hubby grew up in Central Florida and his childhood travel adventures mostly consisted of road trips across the U.S. with his family. After college, he did some traveling across the country with his brother. Business trips to places like Malaysia and Singapore helped solidify his desire to do more traveling and see the world.

Hubby’s hobbies are watching movies and TV, listening to movie soundtracks, reading (especially sci-fi and Revolutionary War books), paper crafting and model building. He loves trains, Japan, Harry Potter, Star Wars, action and sci-fi movies, miniatures, Aardman movies, Tron, The Muppets, Studio Ghibli films, playing video games with Little Dude, and spoiling his wife. He dislikes big parties, sunburns, and onions.

Meet Little Dude

Little Dude is eight. He’s smart, silly, and loads of fun.

Little Dude’s hobbies are playing Minecraft, talking about Minecraft, reading about Minecraft, and playing soccer. He loves movies, LEGO, Harry Potter, beaches, Disney, big cities, dancing, skyscrapers, Star Wars, Super Mario, and math. He dislikes cauliflower and making his bed.
